A Note from our Founder, Maggie Schmieder
Imagine trying to run a quick errand into Sephora while your daughters beg for the latest “must-have” skincare and makeup—products that, despite the hype, are filled with harsh ingredients that can damage their delicate skin. Add in the reality of a nonstop schedule, barely any time to get ready, and still wanting to look polished. And of course, you’re searching for a product that’s clean, completely free of synthetic and lake dyes, and actually fits your aesthetic, your pace, and your life. But you can’t find it anywhere.
That was my reality. Raising two tween daughters—one who underwent heart surgery—and navigating life after our family survived a mass shooting at our July 4th parade, I found myself in the same place so many moms do: wanting to protect our kids and give them the safest, best options possible. With zero formulation experience, I woke up at the end of 2022 determined to create the product I couldn’t find. My daughters and every woman in my life deserved truly clean makeup—color without toxins, something moms could feel good about their little ones borrowing, and a time-saving, budget-friendly 3-in-1 stick for eyes, lips, and cheeks.
That spark became Bitty Balm. Now entering our third year, Bitty Balm continues to grow—rooted in my commitment, as a solopreneur and a mom, to fiercely protect our formula and to champion what truly clean beauty should be.
